  1. This is the second release of my shell commands. It is released under
  2. the terms of the second version of the GNU General Public Licence, so
  3. please read the file COPYING.
  4.  
  5. My immediate plans for the next release includes commands that copies
  6. the functionality of the Unix commands cut, paste, and tail. I would
  7. also like to make something like the Unix print command.
  8.  
  9. The documentation will be rewritten in GNU texinfo format. Then I will
  10. be able to generate doc files in any of the following formats
  11. automatically: plain text, AmigaGuide®, GNU info hypertext, and (of
  12. course) TeX.

  14. Maybe I will even throw in an Installer script for the lazy...

  16. During the development, I used the following tools:
  17.  
  18. - SAS C version 5.10b.
  19. - CWEB by Donald Knuth and Silvio Levi from Fish Disk 551.
  20. - BMake 1.4 by Ben Eng from Fish Disk 523.
  21. - The RCS Revision Control System from Fish Disks 281, 282, and 581.
  22. - Pas-TeX version 1.3 by Georg Heßmann (an Amiga port of TeX 3.14).
  23. - Metafont from Fish Disk 486.
  24. - The GNU emacs 18.58 editor, arguably the greatest text editor in the
  25.   known universe, brought to the Amiga by David Gay (version 1.26DG).

  27. It all ran on an Amiga 500 Plus (1 Mb Chip RAM + 2Mb Fast RAM) with:
  28. - A Commodore A590 SCSI Host Adapter.
  29. - A Seagate ST3283N 245 Mb hard drive (12 ms avg. seek time).
  30. - OS release 2.1 (KS 37.175, WB 38.35).
